I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing

"I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" is a power ballad that was sung and performed by the rock band Aerosmith.  I think that most of us remember this amazing power ballad and the tears that it brought on when we first heard it in the powerful movie Armageddon.  When this song was first debuted back in 1998 it would be one of the biggest songs to hit the charts. "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" would appear on the films album and it would go from there to being number one of the Billboard Hot 100.  This was a huge honor and some would argue a victory for the rock band, Aerosmith.  This was the first time in twenty eight years that the band was together, that they would see this type of response to one of their power ballads.  The song would not just appear on the Billboard Hot 100 in the number one position, it would also end up staying in the number one position for four weeks in 1998.  It was the first time that a rock band would ever be the number one hottest song on the Billboard for that many consecutive weeks.  "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" would end up being number one in several other countries along with also becoming Aerosmith's highest charting song in the United Kingdom, ever. 

Diane Warren

"I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" was actually written, mainly by Diane Warren.  Diane Warren is a very well known and quite accomplished American songwriter.  Her songs have recieved six Academy Award nominations, four Golden Globe nominations, seven Grammy Award nominations along with one win.  In 2001 Diane Warren would be introduced into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.  She is known as being the third most successful female artist in the United Kingdom and she is extremely famous here in the United States as well. 

She was one of the first songwriters in history to have seven hits in the number one spot, by seven different artists on the Billboard.  She has worked with some of the most famous artists and musicians that any of us have ever heard of, one being the Aerosmith band.  She has written songs for artists such as Celine Dion, Monica, LeAnn Rimes, Toni Braxton, Trisha Yearwood and many others.  Diane Warren is such a huge success that she now owns her own publishing company, which therefore, gives her all the controls she will need over her composition of her music and lyrics.  You will find that her songs have been featured in more then seventy films and television. 

Fame

Once the American rock band Aerosmith realized how big this song had gotten they would shortly follow the song up with a music video.  The music video would be directed by Francis Lawrence and it was shot in the Minneapolis Armory in 1998.  This video would portray to the world how aboslutley amazing this song really is and would end up being one of the most watched music videos of the year. 

Following the famous music video along with the number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100, you would find that it would end up going across seas.  As I stated earlier it became the number one song in the United Kingdom, shortly after it did here in the United States.  "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" would also stretch on and become the number one song in many other countries around the world.  This sound would hit number one in the following countries:

This song would end up becoming nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song in 1998.  " I Don' Wanna Miss a Thing" would end up taking Aerosmith to all new heights.  The band would be able to relate to a whole new generation of listeners.  Aerosmith was able to revamp their image over night and instead of kids parents being the only one's to listen to them, the children would begin to listen along with the parents.  This song is still one of the most popular songs in music, even today and it has become a wedding, prom and homecoming staple.  This is one of the most requested songs for karaoke.
